Dr. Claessens studied medicine in Paris, France and in Ulm, Germany, where she achieved her doctors degree. A research fellowship at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Hospital, Boston was focused on the impact of alpha-Interferon on macular degeneration. After her fellowship in ophthalmology at University Eye Clinic Düsseldorf, Dr. Claessens went into private practice in Cologne, Germany. She achieved a master degree (M.Sc.) in Public Health in 2010 at Heinrich-Heine Universität Düsseldorf. Dr. Claessens works for the guideline commission of the "Berufsverband der Augenärzte BVA", is a consultant for the "Institute for quality and efficiency in health care system" (IQWIG) and an advising ophthalmologist for the german network for age-related macular degeneration "AMD-Netz".
Science / Publications
Dr. Claessens published essays and articles about bifocal intraocular lenses und won two prices for published posters of the German Society of Ophthalmic Surgereons DOC. The topic of her master thesis in public health was "Quality of life in wet macular degeneration". In 2015 her publication about "AMD - A Metamorphopsia Detector®" on "Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology" (ARVO) was elected as top best 10% posters out of 6000. (s. News). She is focused on macular degeneration in her scientific and clinical work.In 2016 the results of a study were presented at the ARVO (Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology) comparing the results of the measurement with AMD - A Metamorphopia Detector ® with the results of optical coherence tomography in 375 eyes.
At the 29th International Congress of the German Ophthalmic Surgeons (DOC) from 9th - 11th June 2016, a work titled "Quantitative metamorphopsia measurement in epiretinal gliosis" was presented.
A further work titled "Quantitative Measurement of Metamorphopsia and Central Retinal Thickness in Diabetic Macular Edema and Exudative Age Related Macular Degeneration" was presented at the Congress of the German Ophthalmological Society (DOG) in October 2016.

Dipl. Ing. (FH) Ronald Krüger, M.A. studied electronical engineering in Hannover and mechanical engineering with focus on process computer science in Bremen. He studied "Economy and Management" in Kaiserslautern and achieved a Master of Arts degree in 2011. He was responsible for more than 20 years as a CIO (Chief Information Officer) in the international automotive industry.
